Reflection - Visual Studies

finally completed my very large drawing of a adjustable pipe cutter in the style of the fantastic artist Jim Dine. i don't normally work on such a large scale and my best pieces are usually very small in size but this drawing actually doesn't look too bad. well it wouldn't if you spent over four hours on it. i think for next week i am going to try sitting down a bit more because my feet were in absolute agony  from all that standing.

Reflection - Contextual Studies

Another Fantastic lecture by Graham today learning about how to look at paintings and the deeper meanings behind them.

today we studied this painting by Hans Holbein who is a German artist. this painting has an anamorphosis in it.
An anamorphous is a distorted or monstrous projection or representation of an image on a plane or curved surface, which, when viewed from a certain point, or as reflected from a curved mirror or through a polyhedron, appears regular and in proportion.

here the anamorphous is in the form of a skull at the bottom of the painting.
'The Ambassadors' by Hans Holbein

The skull at the bottom, which would be seen from standing on the left side looking from a 27° angle downwards.

Reflection - CAD/ICT

an OK lesson just a bit boring because we were only learning the very basics of Adobe Photoshop (which i have already learnt) but i suppose it was a very useful for the students that haven't had the privilege of using the software in the past.

Reflection - 3D Design

Another fantastic day with a lot of progress being made in terms of a final outcome. I am now dead sure that i am going to design a residential building and make the 3D model as my final outcome for the project. I made a realy fantastic looking test model using some copper and aluminium scrapps so i know what the skeleton of the building looks like. I was having problems putting my designs and ideas down onto paper so decided to make a model and work from that. I am not yet sure about what material to use to make my model from (cant decide between wood or metal) bit i will soon come to a decision about that. But other than that, its looking good :)

Reflection - Fine Art

What a bloody fantastic day! My shadow art worked very well and was very efective. Not only did i manage to make some faces, i also made the Empire State Building and the Taj-Mahal. I am now looking to develop this technique and make it even more intresting. This technique and my inspiration came from studying the work of Kumi Yamashita who is a fantastic artist and i think is very talented :) please do check out the artists website

Reflection - Digital Apps

Digital Apps went very well today and all the mood boards looked VERY intresting. i was men  t to finish mine off in the morning befor class started only to find that colour printing is only available AFTER 09:00AM :-( so instead of printing of my image of "bad architecture" i used the space with the frog that Kerry had got me :-)  i am looking forward to this project because its all starting to come together now and i know what we are all aiming towards (and most importantly; what a 'Zine' is)

Reflection - 3D Design

what a loooooooooong day! today was my first time table lesson and i had 3D Design all day with Kate McAngus. the title for the project is Negative and Possitive and we started of with doing a group brain storm. we were also looking at resistant and none resistant materials. over all the day was a bit boring but i guess the first day always it.
